Apocalyptic Panic about the end of Translation?

Last month I gave a talk at Ignite NYC about what I’m calling Translation 2.0. Yes, this is still the business of translation we’re all familiar with (experts and non-experts alike), just with a little crowdsourcing, search optimization (SEO) and social media thrown in to spice things up a bit. But spice for some is horror for others.

The rumors of the death of Translation have been greatly exaggerated

The moral of the story really is that more than ever, being successful globally means becoming an expert locally (or partnering with one). And we’re continuing the conversation this Thursday with the former head of CNN en Español, who believe me, after 20 years spent turning that business around, has a thing or two to tell us about targeting Latinos and tackling what he calls the U.S. Hispanic paradox.
